AUDIO: Geophysicist defends coal seam gas exploration

A retired geophysicist says the coal seam gas debate needs more science and less ideology.
Former BHP Petroleum senior geophysicist John Denham has over 20 years experience in exploration.
He says much of the argument against coal seam gas exploration is not grounded in good science.
"The fears that are being raised are out of all proportion to the dangers involved," he said.
"I think there are people who for ideological reasons are opposed to any use of fossil fuel.
"They see this as a threat to their preferred outcome, which is to go entirely to renewable resources."
